Hing Loong Taiwanese Noodle

breakfast Melaka Mon-Wed, Fri-Sun 07:30-17:00

Family-run noodle shop in Kampung Enam open for four decades, built on the founder's wife's Taiwanese recipes and featuring a signature pork chop noodle in rich broth. Arrive early as crowds gather by mid-morning.

The Origins

The shop was founded by its current owner, whose wife brought recipes from Taiwan. Over forty years, those formulas have become touchstones of Melaka’s food landscape, particularly the signature pork chop noodle - a succulent fried cutlet served in a rich pork-bone broth alongside tender egg noodles.

What to Order

The pork chop noodle is the anchor. The meat is tenderized and seasoned well, and the broth carries genuine depth from long simmering. Beef noodle offers a leaner variation, while spicy beef soup appeals to heat seekers. The pickled mustard greens are essential, a salty and sour counterweight that cuts through the richness of the broth. Many diners order these vegetables as a standalone side.

Dining Context

The shop has no air conditioning, which means it fills quickly in Melaka’s heat and clears by mid-afternoon. Communal table seating is normal during peak hours. Breakfast and lunch (especially weekends) draw steady crowds of office workers and students. The kitchen pace is reliable despite the chaos.

Practical Details

Open 7:30am to 5pm daily, closed Thursdays. Located at Jalan Bachang in Kampung Enam. A secondary branch operates in Taman Malim Jaya for those in that neighborhood. Go early if you prefer a quieter experience.
