Walk from Kampung Morten bridge to the Hard Rock Café junction, about 25 minutes of riverside. Murals on the right, sunset on the left. Free.

Editor’s tip The river taxi runs until 18:00 if you’d rather glide than walk. RM 15/person, one stop covers the same stretch.

Queue starts at 18:30. Communal pots of bubbling peanut sauce, sticks priced by colour. Order: prawn, fishcake, century egg, cuttlefish, mantou bread. Two people: about RM 80.

    Jonker Walk night market

Jalan Hang Jebat · Fri–Sun nights

Open until midnight on weekends. Karaoke aunties, antique stalls, durian puffs, and questionable t-shirts. Skip if you’re tired; Saturday is long. Walk through if you have energy.

  • 15:00Heat break

    Air-conditioned recovery

    Hotel · Or a museum

  • 17:30Stop 3

    Melaka River Cruise at sunset

Muara Jetty · Catch the 17:45

Cendol at Jonker 88, then wander

Jalan Hang Jebat · Jonker Walk

Start with a bowl of cendol at Jonker 88 (RM 6). Then graze the night market, with chicken rice balls, satay, deep-fried ice cream, sugar cane juice. Budget RM 50 for two.

    48–50 Heeren Street · RM 25
