Mahkota Parade is a three-level shopping mall in central Melaka housing international brands, a cinema, food court, and entertainment venues. It's the main retail hub for modern shopping.
The Shopping Complex
Mahkota Parade opened in the 1990s as Melaka’s first modern shopping mall. It dominates the Taman Costa Mahkota precinct, a purpose-built commercial area on Jalan Merdeka, a short drive north of the historic old town. The mall spans three levels and contains over 300 retail outlets, from international fashion brands to local electronics and cosmetics shops.
Dining and Entertainment
The ground floor houses a large food court serving local Malaysian dishes, Chinese restaurants, and fast-food chains. A cinema with multiple screens occupies the upper levels, alongside a bowling alley and karaoke facilities, making it a social hub especially on weekends. There’s a supermarket on the basement level and a children’s play area scattered throughout.
Practical Notes
Mahkota Parade is designed for car access; free parking is available in the adjoining lot. It’s less atmospheric than the old town but offers air-conditioned comfort and modern facilities. Most shops open from 10am to 10pm. The mall is well-positioned for rainy-day activities or when you need familiar retail brands and contemporary dining options unavailable in the historic centre.
